keep it clean

No doubt you have heard the horror stories about people who get nasty staph infections from public gym usage. For this reason, I am very thorough about washing my hands before AND after I use any equipment at the gym. And I always make sure that I wipe each machine down after I use it. So there I was at the gym last week, minding my own business on the treadmill. Dreaming of all the cupcakes I could be eating instead of suffering for an hour on a horrid machine meant to induce evil upon my legs and bum. Finally I finish my workout and head to the bathroom to wash my hands. Then a lady comes out of the bathroom stall and walks out the door!!! She didn't so much as even attempt to fake wash - you know where people just run their hands under water for like half a second. I was disgusted and it led me to think about all the things she has touched. Germs are everywhere and can be spread so easily. I take a lot of precautions to sanitize all my products. It's really not a good idea to share makeup, especially if you know that you have a sty or something that could be transmitted to another person. It's also very important to makeup sure you clean your makeup brushes often. Typically, washing your makeup brushes once a week or every other week is enough to prevent bacteria from spreading. Here is a general guideline for washing your makeup brushes:

1) Run the makeup brush under luke warm water (NOT HOT)
2) Apply a pea size amount of baby shampoo or brush shampoo and lather
3) Rinse thoroughly under running water until the water runs clear
4) Use a towel to ring out any excess water
5) Lay flat and allow to air dry
